0wn3d Clan: The Birth and Rise of a Legend

It was late November 2005. For a long time two chaps known as Hotamali and Soul Surviver had ran

a quality dTd oppression free Zombie Panic server. It was the dark ages of Zombie Panic when dTd

was everything; it had its iron fist on everyone. There was no EpF, there was no 0wn3d, the only

good server was Pwn of the dead, and even grim had influence there. Yet it was a great time for the

fellowship that yet to become 0wn3d. In those days, there was only Soul, Hot, Tony, Me,

Fightclubextreme, and beef cake and a few others. These were the elders of 0wn3d. One day

beefcake developed a hunger for power across all of Zombie Panic and started a clan, a clan known

as 0wn3d*. Soon soul brought ToNy and others to the Clan. Soul was in charge of running the server.

Soul realized that beefcake was nothing without him and in a fowl swoop with his allies (me

included) wiped out all of beefcakes political standing in 0wn3d and exiled him.

“I run the server, I’m smarter then this guy, I have the power, why not just take the clan? So I did.

Shortly after original members wanted nothing to do with me. Beefcake made a server called 0wn3d

clan is for nerds [or] something like that. We [then] start getting members, I keep hosting the server

off my computer, Hotamali [did it] every once in a while. We then make a movie.” – Soul Surviver

It was the start of a new age. Around the time of the movie release the server was made.

Grim started to notice 0wn3d clan and feared what would occur. Soul was banned from the server

but there were no worries. Soul had begun to be bored of Zombie Panic and hosted the server less

and less. We did not have a 24/7 server back then. The members got bored and left the clan. One of

the most prominent members, Trunksx was never seen again, Dirt lamb had left and later became

an admin on dTd, fightclubextreme, last seen as a member of EpF and one of our greatest comrades

ck clan thought to have died around this time, but very recently, Metal man (a leader of ck) was

seen playing ZP and Soul Surviver got a chance to help him test a map he was working on for some

time, hopefully the ck clan will come back and die another day.

“I played Sven Co-op and some other stuff. [Then] made my return. Ck [was] gone. Epf [was] rising to

be the new dTd. I have nothing against them though and I even remember when fiveten first ran his

server. I thought it was some joke and EpF would go no where.”- Soul Surviver November 2006.

Grim would not be able to enjoy this success soon as even his own servers were worn done by the

sands of time. His map filter was soon broken and dTd exclusive maps such as

zpo_grandtheftbridges_b6 and ship_fight were playable by all, whether that was a good thing or a

bad thing I cannot tell. Soul soon sprung up with the decision of purchasing a 24/7 server and Many

came flocking to join on the craze. To this day 0wn3d clan is up on the server list full of people and

potential and the future looks to be very promising.

The Reincarnation of 0wn3d Clan

After the Half-Life Protocol in late 2008, 0wn3d Clan began to see its demise as Zombie Panic was no

longer supported by the current Game Server Provider. By Christmas of this year, the clan was

nothing more than its forums and Ventrilo owned by Tri182. While Tri's Vent saw its regulars coming

on regularly, the forums slowly started to die. In mid-June of 2009, Tri182 and Cmptr7 began to look

for Game Server Providers that would be able to support Zombie Panic. After extensive searching,

and some help from OrangeJuice and Ghettobarney, we finally found a server, and thus, not only

the 0wn3d Clan, but also Zombie Panic, was reborn.
